Dr. Christopher was the finest herbal formulator of his time, maybe of all time.  He understood how to get the body to heal, how to get the right herbs to the right place in the right context to get any part of the body into a regenerative state.  He had outrageous success.  While today we find many people do not respond like they should, due to extreme imbalance and malnutrition, many of his formulae are still the best approaches possible.  
Certainly, Thyroid Maintenance is one of those.  Whenever I have a thyroid case or a suspected thyroid case, I always use this formula.  Frequently I have them take 5 before bed and 5 midmorning.  This formula does work for both over and under active thyroid problems.  However, it is initially stimulating, which is why we want to use Chaparral Yerba Mansa rub for the thyroid first if there is evidence of overactive thyroid.  For severe cases we do have other options but that generally requires a consult with Dr. Kal to deal with.
